Most common causes of a summer visit to a doctor

  • 1. Allergies
  • Symptoms

    Nose driping,sore eyes, itching of the skin - skin redness.

    What to do

    For simple cases, antihistamine tablets and corticosteroids cream is enough. Not in need of medical consultation. For more severe cases refer to a registered doctor.

  • 2. Mosquito bites
  • Symptoms

    Skin itching - multiple red points on the skin

    What to do

    When the red spot is less than 5cm in diameter, antihistamine tablets and cream will do the job. If the red spots are bigger and accumulate fluid (white or lucid) refer to a registered doctor as you may need elaborate treatment.

  • 3. Ear infections/Tonsilitis
  • Symptoms

    Pain in the affected ear(s), sometimes liquid comming from the ear. Sometims accompanied by tonsilitis. Most prominent symptoms of tonsilitis is a sore throat and difficulty to swallow even liquids.

    What to do

    Always refer to a doctor as an ear infection impairs your ability to fly and a bacterial tonsilitis necessitates the administration of antibiotics.

  • 4. Sun burns/Heat stroke
  • Symptoms

    Redness of skin, peeling off the skin. Nausea,vomiting,loss of consiousness,fever.

    What to do

    For a simple sunburn a cream from pharmacy will do. For extensive sun burns and heat strokes always refer to a doctor.

  • 5. Gastrenteritis
  • Symptoms

    Nausea,vomiting,epigastric pain,diarrhoea

    What to do

    Always reffer to a doctor as treatment must be initiated with injections (you might vomit any pill given by mouth).

  • 6. Sea urchin spikes/Splinters
  • Symptoms

    Pain in walking

    What to do

    Always refer to a doctor. Remove them by yourself won't do the job. These objects are always infected and need antibiotic treatment.

  • 7. Dermatitis/Infected dermatitis, skin infections
  • Symptoms

    Large areas of the body are reddish, hot, tender and firm, or multiple points with yellow white exudate

    What to do

    Refer to a registered doctor as antibiotic treatment is required

  • 8. Urinary tract/Bladder infections
  • Symptoms

    Polyuria(feeling the need to urinate continiously), itching of the urethra or feeling of pressure on the bladder.

    What to do

    Drink a alot of water (5%-7% of your weight). If symptoms persists visit the doctor to receive a proper antibiotic treatment.

  • 9. Alcohol/Substance abuse
  • Symptoms

    Vomiting/Unconsious patient/Nausea/Delirious patient

    What to do

    Always visit a aregitered doctor as this cases need intravenous administration of fluids and some hours of observation.

  • 10. Friction burns/falling from bikes
  • Symptoms

    Large areas of the body peeled off from the ashpalt(usually trunk,arms and thighs)

    What to do

    Reffer to a doctor as millions of bacteria from the road are inocculated to the skin and these case are in need of intense antibiotic treatment.

  • 11. Sore eyes, eye infection
  • Symptoms

    Redness of the eyeball, itchy eyes, photophobia, tears, sticky yellow secretions from the eyes.

    What to do

    Always reffer to a doctor as the eye is a very sensitive organ and vision requires 100% functional eye.
